HERO IN BLACK: The Art of Richie Slade

On May 22, 2020, in Media, News Center, by Jake Alexander

A lot goes into being a Professional Wrestler. So much that they can be stereotyped and looked upon in a certain light that isn’t exactly a true depiction of who they are after they step away from the ring and head home. They are like onions, filled with layer after layer. When Richie Slade isn’t chasing victories he is expressing himself through art. EmpireWrestlingFederation.com is proud to bring to you “Hero In Black: The Art of Richie Slade”!

The Batman 1966 Collection (2013)

Adam West as Batman

I’m a huge Batman fan, and always wanted to capture the series I grew up watching. -Richie Slade

Burt Ward as Robin

Another addition to my 1960s Batman collection. -Richie Slade

Cesar Romero as The Joker

I couldn’t draw Batman without his counterpart the Joker. Couldn’t do Adam West without Cesar Romero! -Richie Slade

The Crow (2019)

During my teenage years I collected everything Crow related. All the movies (even the bad ones), novels and soundtracks. It helped me through my most awkward years. -Richie Slade

David from The Lost Boys (2017)

I’ve always loved vampires and sadly I feel they’ve only done it right a few times in Hollywood. The Lost Boys was one of those few times and I had to capture it. -Richie Slade

Beast from the X-Men (2020)

Grew up obsessively watching X-Men the animated series and reading the comics. I was inspired recently from looking at my old collection cards and art by Dave Devries stood out to me and inspired this creation. -Richie Slade

My Brother (2020)

I decided to draw my brother as a knight, inspired by paintings from the early 1900s. -Richie Slade

Owen Hart (2020)

Owen was incredible in the ring. I remember tuning in, watching him and his brother Bret Hart and thinking I wanted to be like these guys. Recently, with a little more time on my hands, I felt the need to create something to honor. -Richie Slade

High quality prints of Richie Slade’s artwork are available for purchase. He is also available for select commission work. Details on both can be obtained by e-mailing richiesladewrestling@gmail.com
